This Privacy Policy explains how SkipTow ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information.
1. Information We Collect
- Account Data: Name, email, phone number, and password
- Location Data: Real-time GPS for tracking mechanics and customers
- Device Info: Operating system, browser, IP address
- Messages and Media: In-app chats and uploaded photos
- Transaction Data: Invoice history, service types, payment status
- Analytics Data: App usage, crash reports, and technical diagnostics
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your data to:
- Operate and improve the app
- Display the app properly for your operating system
- Facilitate mechanic dispatch and tracking
- Enable secure messaging and payments
- Notify you of updates or status changes
- Monitor performance and troubleshoot technical issues
3. Location Data
We only use location data to facilitate service requests between mechanics and customers. Specifically, location is used to:
- Match mechanics with customers based on proximity and active status.
- Display user and vehicle icons on the map (mechanic, customer, service location).
- Provide manual navigation by allowing the user to span the map and view icons.
- Notify mechanics of new service requests only when they are set to “active” and the request is within their chosen service radius.
We do not use location data for background tracking outside of service requests, and we do not use it for marketing or unrelated purposes.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your data. We only share information:
- With other users (e.g., a mechanic sees your service request)
- With service providers (e.g., Firebase, Stripe) for payments and platform functionality
5. Security
We use encryption and secure databases (Firebase) to protect your data. While we take reasonable precautions, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection.
6. Your Choices
You can:
- Edit your account information
- Request account deletion by emailing us
- Opt out of non-essential push notifications in your device settings
7. Data Retention
We retain personal data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our policies.
8. Children’s Privacy
Our app is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this policy. We will notify users of significant changes via email or app alert. Continued use of the app after changes implies acceptance.
